Kira Chandler was diagnosed with cancer at the young age of 7. What we thought would be a pair of glasses for double vision ended up being a trip to the local ER with a transfer and admission to All Children’s in St. Petersburg. We learned Kira had an inoperable and incurable brain tumor. Kira went to 11 hospitals all over the country and in Mexico in search for a cure. We relocated 3 times to different hospitals. She was so brave and strong while fighting a hard battle against cancer for 1 year and 48 days. She taught us how to smile during the most difficult situations. Kira gained her angel wings on March 28, 2013 at the tender age of 8! She endured endless tests, radiation, chemotherapies, brain surgery, bone marrow aspiration, spinal tap, and port surgery all in hopes to slow growth of the tumor. Kira was robbed of a childhood and we were robbed of our precious daughter. With our heartache we fight for our kids, they deserve a fighting chance! Childhood cancer needs more funding to find a CURE! Only 4% of National funding is dedicated to childhood cancer research. We continue to fight for a cure by supporting desperately needed research so no child has to question tomorrow.
