Katie came into our lives on August 23, 1998. She was 6 months old when they found a tumor under her brachial plexus in her left arm. She endured 6 rounds of intense chemo and two surgeries. When she was 15 months old she was considered “cancer free”. She still needed to go to the clinic, have her blood levels checked and have a PET scan every 6 months. Katie handled it all like a champ. She never complained just did what she had to do. In March of 2003 the tumor came back in the same place. We then had two more surgeries, radiation and more chemo. But it didn’t work this time. On August 12, 2003, 11 days before her 5th birthday, Katie passed away.
Katie Ann was a vibrant young lady, wise beyond her years. Although she was only here with us for 4 ¾ years she taught us so much. She taught us not to sweat the small stuff and enjoy every day to the fullest, she always did that. She would light up a room just by walking into it. SpongeBob was one of her favorite shows and she loved her big brother, Paul. Katie’s dad, Paul Sr., brother, Paul Jr. and Me mommy, think of and miss her every minute of every day. We love you Katie Ann!
