My Story

On August 25, 2011, our lives were forever changed when we found out that our 5-year old son Jackson had cancer. We were on a family vacation at the beach and Jackson was having severe stomach pains and was sleeping a lot. We knew something wasn't right and so we left our vacation early and brought him to Children's Hospital of Philadelphia where we learned his diagnosis of Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL).  Jackson spent the next month in the hospital after diagnosis, receiving 4 rounds of chemotherapy and the next 8 months of his life consisted of an intense schedule of weekly chemotherapy at CHOP and eventually radiation. He lost his hair twice, missed almost his entire Kindergarten year of school, and endured so many side effects from his treatment. He received chemotherapy for a total of 3 years after diagnosis.  It's been a long, hard road with lots of ups and downs, but Jackson has shown us the true meaning of strength, optimism, and courage. He is an amazing boy and is our family's hero. We are happy to report that Jackson has been cancer-free for 12 years and entered the Survivorship Program at CHOP the summer of 2017.  Please consider honoring Jackson and our entire family by supporting St. Baldrick's. These events hold a very special place in our hearts. Thank you.
