Gavin was diagnosed with stage IV Neuroblastoma in 2011, just before his 2nd birthday. He underwent 6 rounds of induction chemo, 4 hospitalizations for neutropenia and fever, a bone marrow/stem cell transplant, 14 rounds of radiation therapy, 5 rounds of immunotherapy and 6 rounds of accutane treatment. Gavin finished frontline treatment in August 2012. He then participated in a 2 year clinical trial to help keep him in remission. Gavin is now a happy 3rd grader who runs around with his brother and sister, swims on a swim team, plays soccer and loves Minecraft! Gavin's Group was formed due to the amazing generosity and spirit of friends and family who wanted to help Gavin and other kids like him fight cancer as well as all the long-term side effects that come after treatment. St. Baldrick’s Foundation is so important not just in finding a cure for this awful disease, but for finding better treatment options that will mean fewer long-term side effects for kids like Gavin. We greatly appreciate all the work that they do!
