My Story

Someone once told me to see Ava is to love her. The sparkle in her eyes showed her true spirit. Ava was a strong willed, fun loving girly girl. Ava was diagnosed with a brain tumor called Medulloblastoma on Jan 11, 2008. The tumor was surgically removed on Jan 16, 2008. Ava underwent 9 rounds of chemo and prior to starting radiation on Jan 28, 2009 a new inoperable tumor was found. Ava received 31 rounds of high dose radiation to her full brain and spine, 3 rounds of high dose chemo and 3 stem cell transplants. After 20 months of treatment Ava beat the monster and entered remission. But then, in July 2016, Ava's family learned the tumors were back, and one on her brain stem was inoperable. Throughout her long battle with cancer, Ava remained positive and shared a message of caring and kindness. Ava was all heart.
