“Thank you for supporting kids like me with childhood cancer. If it was not for your support, I might not be here.” Annabelle was diagnosed shortly after her 5th birthday with Acute Myeloid Leukemia, AML, at Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital. Annabelle was active in gymnastics before finding out her diagnosis. She has three brothers, one older and two younger, and was wrestling with them when bruises started to develop at a rapid rate on her arm and leg. This prompted her to be taken to the hospital where we thought she would be diagnosed as anemic; it was that and more. She was officially diagnosed with cancer on March 22, 2024, just two days before her older brother’s birthday. Annabelle began treatment immediately and has been in remission since April 29, 2024. During her six months of chemotherapy at Cardinal Glennon, she has welcomed her youngest baby brother to the world, made and lost friends battling their own cancers, started kindergarten in-person and virtually, and was able to ring the ‘cancer free’ bell. Meeting her today, you would never know what she endured that year or the mental battles she faced with having needles injected and ports implanted into her body to survive. She has been our biggest motivation to keep moving forward and to never let the hard days win. We are thankful each day we get to spend with her. None of this would be possible without donations from people like you so, thank you for helping her be here today.
