My Story

Our Willie was diagnosed with B-Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia at 2.5 years old. 8 weeks after his baby sister was born. He has spent now 2 years of his childhood going through cancer treatment; full on intensity for a toddler. A fight for health and life; and he doesn’t know or understand any of it. He has went through minutes to years of life changes- testing, chemotherapy treatments (IV, oral, subQ shots), the most harshest and intense chemotherapy drugs, steroids, being held down (at every appt for port accessing & beyond), ER visits, needles, imaging testing, monitoring, 20+ times going under anesthesia for lumbar punctures, 3 bone marrow biopsy’s, surgery, side effects, hair loss, belly/full body pain, vomiting, restless and painful nights waking up (some of which were close to 911 calls), personality changes and rage, neurology, cardiology, side effects & testing that will continue with him for the rest of his life and possibility of more that are unknown at this time. We’re blessed through it all, our son has done amazing mostly pushing through it and always getting right back up and staying active. We always say “WillieStrong” is a statement. We’ve just wanted to inspire families and kids who are just like us, and help as many along the way as we can. We’ve made so many wonderful memories throughout cancer treatment, the support has been mind blowing but we’re so ready for it to be over for our little guy and ring the bell! Get him back to being a healthy little boy, to live a long and happy life!
