Maya's story begins in September 2019. She is a gymnast and was having leg pain for a couple weeks. On September 13, 2019, Maya was diagnosed with high grade Osteosarcoma. Maya likes to share that she was diagnosed during Childhood Cancer Awareness Month!
In December, Maya had surgery to remove the tumor from her left fibula, the small bone of her leg. She is currently undergoing treatment and will continue through May 2019.
Maya is the most caring person you will meet, she always thinks of others first. She has an older brother and two younger sisters who adore her. Maya has an amazing support system that is helping her and her family though this journey. Thank you for supporting me and the more than 300,000 kids worldwide who will be diagnosed with cancer this year. By sharing the gifts of your time, talent and money with the St. Baldrick's Foundation, you're supporting research to give all kids with cancer a better chance for a cure.
