Beckett had been having severe hip pain and other health issues. Lots of doctors and tests proved to not work so he was admitted to the hospital for more tests and pain management. MRIs, bone scans and other tests were proving to still give them no answers. Meanwhile, his pain was getting worse and he was developing more symptoms. As he was being given an MRI of his spine an image just happened to show a glimpse of the brain that threw up a red flag. He then was rushed back into MRI for another scan of the brain. This scan confirmed that Beckett had hydrocephalus. The hydrocephalus is caused by a “mass/tumor” on his brain. Beckett was rushed to Lurie Children’s Hospital, and then into surgery. He received a drain in his head to help drain the pressure and fluid. He then received surgery to biopsy the tumor and then another surgery to place a permanent shunt. Pathology confirmed a low-grade glioma, polycystic astrocytoma. Where his tumor is located is inoperable and can only be treated in the hope to stop growth and stabilize the tumor. He also had nodes on the stem of his brain and along his spinal cord. 10 rounds of chemo proved to not help and his tumor grew and more "enhancements" appeared. A new chemo was introduced and his just received a MRI result that the tumor is stable. He will continue chemo therapy for at 52 week treatment course. Beckett and his family have a long road ahead of them so please continue the prayers.
