My Story
Austin was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor in January 2023 when he was only 10 months old. He has been receiving weekly chemotherapy treatments since February 2023. His tumor is responding well to the chemotherapy so far, but it’s going to be a long journey for Austin. These types of tumors often continue growing on and off throughout childhood and into early adulthood. The tumor is behind his eyes, in the middle portion of his brain, right on his optic chiasm. It’s also very close to his hypothalamus and his pituitary gland. The tumor can affect vision, hormone functions, and much more if the growth is not controlled. He is still the happiest toddler around despite having to go through so many difficult situations at such a young age.
