We helped to raise money for childhood cancer research at: Individual Fundraisers for the 36 Rabbis

There was once one more person in the world. A VERY SPECIAL PERSON. This person spent most of his life without many people knowing about him. He got cancer when he was six years old and couldn’t get it fixed. People made donations, gave money, and did everything they could to keep him alive. Doctors even tried a bone marrow transplant. His name was Sammy Sommer. His parents blogged about him and he became known worldwide as Superman Sam. Everyone knew how amazing he was. Only weeks after his eighth birthday, Sammy Sommer died. People all over the world mourned for him, but his mother, a rabbi, was more upset than anyone. She felt that nobody should EVER go through what Sammy or his family went through. So, she did something. She gathered all the rabbis she could – men and women – to completely shave their heads. Each rabbi agreed to raise money for shaving their heads and all the money will be donated to fund children’s cancer research. They called their fundraiser 36 Rabbis Shave for the Brave, even though more than 36 rabbis have registered. The rabbis will be shaving their heads in March and are raising $360,000! When I heard about this, I felt wrong not to help. Clearly, I’m not a rabbi, but I am still participating. I won’t completely shave my head, but I will cut my hair and donate it, at the side of the rabbis doing Shave For the Brave. And, if you don’t cut your hair until March, maybe you can also donate. It would be great if lots of us donated our hair and raised money for this cause! I am also raising money just like the rabbis. I am collecting contributions in honor of donating my hair and in memory of Sammy and I am hoping to reach a goal of $1800. Please support this effort. Let’s do it for Sammy Sommer and his family, and for all the kids who are fighting cancer. Thank you for your participation!
