A personal message from a member of our Purple Family, Dwayne Villanova:
In 2015, less than two weeks after turning 5, my daughter Morgan was diagnosed with a stage 2+ Wilms tumor. She had to have her right kidney and a 5 lb. tumor taken out of her less than a month after starting kindergarten. She then had to go through six months of chemo treatments and scans. We were lucky and did not have any reoccurrences or spreading of the disease. Other friends and families of ours weren't so lucky. We have watched friends children die and others who every couple of years relapse and have too get multiple bone marrow transplants. Yet the government still only gives less than 4% of national funding to pediatric cancer research. That is why I shave my head is too help raise money to hopefully find a cure to this monster that has taken so many children's childhood away from them.
What could possibly be more important than saving the life of a child?
That’s what this fundraiser is all about: supporting childhood cancer research. Since the pandemic, donations are down sharply, which is a big deal since the St. Baldrick’s Foundation is the largest non-government supporter of childhood cancer research grants.
Your donation will help find cures and give survivors the long and healthy lives they deserve. Can you help? Thank you!
