Why did I go into medicine? The most cliche answer is to help people, but it also remains one of the most true statements I utter. Why do I do triathlons? Because I can, and to show people you can do anything if you seriously set your mind to it, and can overcome just about any obstacle life throws your way.
This year, I am training to race in my first full distance Ironman event in the Woodlands Texas on April 22, 2017. This year, I want to make training and racing more than just about reaching a time goal, but about an opportunity to help raise money for kids who are struggling with these cancers, treatments, etc. I want to honor their struggle, sacrifice, and fortitude with a small gesture of doing the same throughout training.
You'll be able to follow along my training on various social media including facebook, twitter, instagram, strava, etc.
Did you know that 175,000 kids are diagnosed with cancer each year? And in the U. S., one in five will not survive. I want to change that, so I'm raising money to find cures. Please support me with a donation to the St. Baldrick's Foundation. This volunteer-driven charity funds more in childhood cancer research grants than any organization except the U. S. government. Your gift will give hope to infants, children, teens and young adults fighting childhood cancers. So when I ask for your support, I'm really asking you to support these kids.
