Event Details

Each weekday in the United States 46 mothers are told that their child has cancer. The 46 Mommas represent all mothers who make the cancer journey with their child. Comprised of 46 women from across the U.S. and Canada, with different backgrounds, beliefs and lifestyles; there is one thing that they have in common - childhood cancer. In 2010, our inaugural team took the name 46 Mommas Shave for the Brave and established a fundraising goal of $1 million for The St. Baldrick's Foundation. Each year, a new class of 46 Mommas is inducted into the cause to empower and engage mothers of children with cancer. Our 2010 Mommas shaved in California and were proud to stand on stage as part of the nationally televised Stand Up to Cancer telethon. On September 21, 2011, our second team of mommas shaved during rush hour in Washington, DC's Union Station. DC also offered the Mommas the opportunity to advocate for pediatric cancer legislation on Capitol Hill. The Mommas met with various members of Congress and advocated for the Creating Hope Act at the Second Annual Childhood Cancer Summit. Our third annual shave was at Hollywood & Highland in Los Angeles, CA on July 29th, 2012. The 2012 team included Mommas from Canada for the first time representing Childhood Cancer Canada. This amazing international bond highlights that the devastation of childhood cancer is not limited to one country. The money raised by the Mommas for research will benefit children all over the world. On June 30, 2013, our fourth class of Mommas gathered to shave in San Antonio, TX. It was a Texas-sized celebration of the team reaching - and surpassing - our original million dollar fundraising goal! The theme of the event was "Don't Mess with Mommas," and as we head into 2014 having raised over $1.25 million, we are more determined than ever to conquer childhood cancer! We are excited to open up the 46 Mommas campaign for 2014. Our 5th signature event will take place in Boston, MA. Please consider joining our team if you live near the Boston area or can travel there and want to stand in solidarity with your son or daughter. If you cannot travel to our Boston event, please consider joining our effort by attending an event near you. Or you can set up your own 46 Mommas event and invite everyone you know! If you are not a mother of a child with cancer, we appreciate your support and hope you can attend to cheer us on. The Mommas hope to go far beyond the $1 million for the St. Baldrick's Foundation, by continuing to raise awareness about kids' cancer and childhood cancer research. No matter where they shave, BALD MOMS ROCK! What about 46 grandmas, 46 survivors, or 46 friends? Everyone can make a difference. Help us make a highly-visible difference and Conquer Kids' Cancer!

St. Baldrick’s Honored Kids
