This is your opportunity to be a HERO FOR KIDS WITH CANCER! We shave our heads for 2 reasons: most importantly to raise money for a cure but also to stand in solidarity with the kids that do not have the choice to be bald. DON'T THINK OF IT AS SHAVING YOUR HEAD, THINK OF IT AS SAVING THE LIFE OF A CHILD WITH CANCER! Our goal this year is to set the standard for all other St. Baldrick’s events and become the #1 event in the world. We need your help! Come shave with us…IT'S JUST HAIR! ***Alaska Airlines has generously donated 2 unrestricted roundtrip tickets that will be used in a raffle for eligible shavees. Eligible shavees will: sign up, raise at least $250 in donations on their fundraising page by midnight on 05/18 and shave at our event.*** This is another great reason to get involved! May 19th will be a fun family event for all. We are excited to have Terry Boyd as our event MC. There will be discounted ride bracelets, food (Papa Murphy’s pizza) and drink (alcoholic and non), a bunch of kids activities, our raffle highlighted by 2 additional unrestricted round trip tickets from Alaska Airlines and live music. Live music will be provided by local country band Lock, Stock & Barrel from 12-2 and by the David Brothers band from 2-4. These are both great bands and you'll want to check them out! Get your group, organization, place of work, baseball team, soccer team, any team, local Police or Fire department, family member or neighbor to come and shave with you. Come on down and get your kids summer buzz and let them know how you're playing a part in saving the life of a child with cancer! Among the estimated 500+ shavees this year will be, Portland Mayor Sam Adams, Timber Joey and some of his Timbers friends and Miss Elite Beauty Oregon, Cindi Luther. There are teams from local Fire Departments, Police Departments, High Schools and Businesses throughout the Portland/Vancouver area. Again, you will not want to miss this! The event in 2012 is a special tribute to David Guerin, Lillian Trippe and Brett Dushane. David was able to take pictures of his Mom shave her head in honor of her son and children around the world fighting cancer. Unfortunately David, Lillian and Brett lost their fight and received their angel wings in 2011. In their honor we vow to continue to take St. Baldrick's in Portland/Vancouver to a new level. We are going to try and make 2012 a year to remember by becoming the largest event in the world. That is right, we are going to set the pace for all other events and take the 12th largest event to the number 1 event. Help us, in honor of David and his family, in honor of Lillian and her family and in honor of Brett and his family, achieve over 500 Shavees this year. Spread the word and make sure that as many people as possible join our event and lets make a special tribute in honor of all children who have received their angle wings. See event picture with David and his mother 5/14/2011 and be sure to go thru our event photos for a picture of Lillian and our event in 2011. We are having fundraising days with Qdoba Mexican Grill this year from Eugene to Vancouver and everywhere in between. All you have to do is take this flyer into a Qdoba Mexican Grill on the following dates and 20% of your sale will be donated to our St. Baldrick's event at Oaks Park. Remember the Flyer! The dates are on Saturdays and Sundays May 12th and 13th https://docs.google.com/document/d/1kZgUBBsT7TKwMf2EwNhEewTMf4dFsDbqKlOVMkb2Lpo/edit# Download the flyer You can go to any Qdoba restaruant as many times as you wish, bring as many friends as you can and help us and Qdoba raise money for St. Baldrick's and our event.Click here to see pictures of our event in 2011.... There are 522 pictures for everyone to look at. We have been a part of St. Baldrick's for 7 years now and we encourage everyone to join early, start a team and convince others to join with you. Remember it is just hair! Our Raffle was a huge success last year and this year is already shaping up to be the largest raffle we have ever had. Encourage places you do business with to contact us with a gift card or gift that we can put in the raffle. Get your local community involved with this wonderful fund raising event. This is your opportunity to be a hero for kids with cancer! We're having a St. Baldrick's event, and whether you decide to shave your head, volunteer, or donate, we hope you'll be a part of the excitement. The St. Baldrick's Foundation is a volunteer-driven charity that funds more in childhood cancer research grants than any organization except the U.S. government. Get involved and you'll be giving hope to infants, children, teens and young adults fighting childhood cancers. Thank you! If you choose to support a participant or team at our event, your name will appear on their donor list. To support our event in general and appear on our event donor list, please click "Make a donation" to give online, or donate by phone or mail. Food will be provided this year by Papa Murphy's Pizza and we will have several beverage choices. If you need help signing up or adding a photo, please feel free to contact me. Remember to ask others to join you. It is just hair! John Bohannon
