Event Details

Dear Prep Community,

Unfortunately, the weather did not cooperate this morning (Wed. May 15) for our event, and doubly unfortunately, it looks as though inclement conditions will persist into our rain date tomorrow. Most unfortunate!

But fear not, friends—we have rescheduled Wear a Wig to Knock Out Cancer!—our fundraiser in support of St. Baldrick's Foundation. Rest assured that we will wear wigs and shave heads to kick off our Field Day festivities on Friday, May 31.

The good news is that we have another two weeks to continue the campaign, so we continue to call on our entire Prep community to band together in the fight against childhood cancer. Here's how you can help the cause:

1) Enter the wig contest. Patients who are undergoing treatment for cancer often experience hair loss as a side effect of their treatment. In many cases, wigs can be a great comfort, helping patients feel like themselves and lifting their spirits as they fight their battles. For a small donation/entry fee, we invite students, faculty, staff, and administrators to break out the hairpieces and strut their stuff to kick off Field Day. Get crazy with it, Fairfield Prep—we've seen you all decked out in the Bomb Squad and we know you've got it in you! As an added incentive, we’ve got prizes for the top three wig-wearers as determined by our faculty judges—Mrs. Hoover, Mr. Milazzo, and Ms. Rosales.

2) Volunteer to have your head shaved. As you may already know, St. Baldrick's is famous for hosting volunteer head-shaving events to help raise money for the fight against pediatric cancers. There will be barbers on hand at Wear a Wig to Knock Out Cancer! for those who want to make the ultimate show of support for and solidarity with those who suffer.

3) Make a donation. Don't want to pimp that peruke? Not looking to go that short for summer? You can still make a difference—with your dollars. And every little bit helps the cause. Because of advancements in the field of cancer research and treatment, outcomes today for kids who are battling cancer are better than they have ever been before. None of that would be possible without funding, though, and we still have a long way to go. As we have demonstrated time and time again, our Fairfield Prep community is synonymous with generosity, so let’s answer the call once more on behalf of St. Baldrick’s and the quest to conquer kids’ cancer.

Thanks for your support, and GO PREP!

St. Baldrick’s Honored Kids

Kids with cancer are our reason for it all. They’re the inspiration behind our event and the reason we’re helping fund childhood cancer research. We believe all kids should be able to grow up and turn their dreams into realities. Join our event or make a donation, and click the photos below to read their incredible stories.
