Event Details

Be a hero for kids with cancer!

Join this St. Baldrick's event, and whether you decide to shave your head, volunteer,  donate or just come out for the celebration, we hope you'll be a part of the excitement!

The St. Baldrick's Foundation is a volunteer-powered charity that funds more in childhood cancer research grants than any organization except the U.S. government.

Get involved and you'll be giving hope to infants, children, teens and young adults fighting childhood cancers!

This will be our 12th year hosting events, having raised over $2.5 million for childhood cancer research. Shaving more than 3000 heads. This is the largest fundraiser for childhood cancer in the state of Michigan.  We shut down the main street and put up a massive tent, with a giant stage with 15 barbers shaving non-stop from 1-4pm.

There is a kids area with free activities and Masonic from 11:30am-4pm, face painting, games, photo booth and more, all free for families.  Lots of characters in movie quality costumes from Star Wars, Marvel and DC will be on hand as well for fun photos.

Michael Fiscus was the VEO (Volunteer Event Organizer) for the first 10 years, Christine Malzahn was the VEO for year 11, now Ruth Heidebreicht has volunteered to step into the 3rd VEO for our event going forward.

This year's event will be on the Saturday "after" St. Patrick's day. This marks a major chance in the event timing. We have also scaled back marketing to our community and the great shavees from across metro-Detroit, who come back year after year. With other great events in Walled Lake, East Lansing, Livonia, Novi, Ann Arbor, Petosky, Grand Rapids, Traverse City, Birmingham, Midland, Southfield, Detroit, the dedication to the cause is growing across Michigan.

A huge thank you to all shavees from more than 40 communities across the state of Michigan who chose to shave their heads in Romeo and making us one of the top 25 events this year worldwide.

St. Baldrick’s Honored Kids

Kids with cancer are our reason for it all. They’re the inspiration behind our event and the reason we’re helping fund childhood cancer research. We believe all kids should be able to grow up and turn their dreams into realities. Join our event or make a donation, and click the photos below to read their incredible stories.
