Event Details

Each weekday in North America, approximately 46 mothers are told that their child has cancer. The 46 Mommas represent all mothers who make the cancer journey with their child. We come from across the U.S. and Canada and have different backgrounds, beliefs, and lifestyles, but there is one thing we all have in common – childhood cancer. Each year, a new class of Mommas is welcomed to the team in an effort to empower and engage mothers of children who have or had cancer and to raise critical research funding. For our 9th national event, the 46 Mommas are turning our attention to advocacy and taking our children's stories to Capitol Hill! Since our first shave in Los Angeles in 2010, we've raised over $2 Million for childhood cancer research, and we want to make sure our representatives are doing their part to help find cures and safer, less toxic treatments. One way they can step up is by supporting the passage AND funding of the Childhood Cancer Survivorship, Treatment, Access, and Research (STAR) Act, so we will be paying them visits to encourage them to do just that. Our goal is to have at least one Momma from every state join us, and with nine years of brave, beautiful Mommas to start with, we know we can do it! For this event, shaving your head is NOT required, but we may have an opportunity to do that for those who are interested. This year, we'd like to put some of the energy and success we've had at our fundraising events into an advocacy event and show the powers-that-be that Mommas mean business! If you are the mother of a child who has or had cancer and you would like to be a member of the 2018 team, please email membership@46mommas.com to request an application. We look forward to seeing you in D.C.!

St. Baldrick’s Honored Kids

Kids with cancer are our reason for it all. They’re the inspiration behind our event and the reason we’re helping fund childhood cancer research. We believe all kids should be able to grow up and turn their dreams into realities. Join our event or make a donation, and click the photos below to read their incredible stories.
