Event Details

Be a hero for kids with cancer! Participants in a St. Baldrick’s event shave their heads in exchange for donations to fight childhood cancer. The St. Baldrick’s Foundation funds more in childhood cancer research grants than any organization except the U.S. government. Join us at the new Westport Weston Family YMCA for TeamBrent's 11th annual event. Registration opens at 11:30.  Registration opens at 11:45. Opening Ceremonies at noon, featuring sportscaster Deb Placey and St. Baldrick’s Board Member/TeamBrent’s Mike McCreesh, immediately followed by head shaving, head painting by Once Upon a Face Paint; music by DJ E-Train; complimentary studio photography by Heidi Curran Photography & Laurie Wright Photography until 2pm. Healthy adults ages 18-44 can join our free/easy bone marrow drive. You are welcome to stay and use the Family YMCA for the day. Young children can enjoy the Kids’ Club and Fort Mack playscape. Bring swim suits and towels and have fun in the shallow warm-water family pool, with its Splash Pad play area for pre-swimmers, Aqua Hoops for teens and tweens and more. The Family YMCA’s 14-ft. tall Aquatic Climbing Wall – the first in the state of Connecticut – will also be available for play in the deep end of the 10-lane lap pool. Plan to carpool.  Thanks to a very generous donation from Parking Systems (valet service), and some other generous sponsors, we will utilize Parking Systems valet service during the Celebration.  We all rest in the shade of trees we did not plant. Watch this to learn more: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T2gVMlMyShg Roving photographer Ben Sachs will return for his NINTH year ..Watch his video that condenses last year's shaving into three minutes: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UZhx4Oi-dYM&feature=youtu.be Each year the St. Baldrick’s Foundation officially Knights an elite group who has helped shape St. Baldrick’s by being involved for at least seven years. Less than 1% of participants are Knights, yet we have been pleased to Knight 46 people at our events. This # is ridiculously high and says a lot about the passion of our community. We are excited to Knight 11 more participants this year.  Join us to find out who! Other ways to support St Bs/TB:  buy cheese ravioli @ Cinch; enroll in NECA chess tournament May 3; or buy special TeamBrent Cookies at Sweet & Simple! Further thanks go to  Parking Systems, CT Block Party, HobbyTown, Willows Pediatrics, Mathnasium, Keough’s Hardware, Infinite Web Designs, Castle Computer, Moffly Media, vineyard vines,  Curran VW, Success Printing & Mailing, Chess Club of Fairfield County  & Nauti Dolphin for the strong support. ***if this date doesn't work for you, get shaved @ Team Teddy's April 1 event @ Osborn Hill School in Fairfield.  All $ goes to the same place.  ***Event Hosts: Kristin Nierman, Alicia Westerlund, Courtney Yanni, Becky Andronowitz, Jane Kronick

St. Baldrick’s Honored Kids

Kids with cancer are our reason for it all. They’re the inspiration behind our event and the reason we’re helping fund childhood cancer research. We believe all kids should be able to grow up and turn their dreams into realities. Join our event or make a donation, and click the photos below to read their incredible stories.
