Event Details

On Friday 28 September Hannah’s Heroes is hosting the 6th Annual Big Shave for the St Baldrick’s Foundation* in the Cayman Islands.

Thanks to you and the Cayman community, over the past 5 years we’ve raised US $1.7 million for St Baldrick’s to fund the most promising childhood cancer research worldwide. But what difference does your hair and the $1.7 million it has raised make to kids fighting cancer?

Since 2013 Hannah’s Heroes have funded 6 separate research grants at some of the most prestigious research institutes across the US, including John Hopkins in Baltimore, the Dana Farber institute in Boston and Duke University in North Carolina, where researchers are working on life changing treatments and cures funded by St Baldrick’s research grants named in Hannah’s honour.

Since 1980, only 4 chemotherapy drugs have been approved by the FDA specifically for childhood cancer, compared to hundreds of drugs for adult cancers. What's more, nearly all of the chemo drugs still used on children were developed in the 1970s.

Sadly, since our last Big Shave, there have been at least four more children in Cayman diagnosed with cancer and tragically, one passed away earlier this year; we need your help more than ever. The impact you will make by getting involved again this year will literally change and save lives.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts

St. Baldrick’s Honored Kids

Kids with cancer are our reason for it all. They’re the inspiration behind our event and the reason we’re helping fund childhood cancer research. We believe all kids should be able to grow up and turn their dreams into realities. Join our event or make a donation, and click the photos below to read their incredible stories.
