Since childhood cancer affects an entire family, it's only suiting that our entire family step up together. Justin, Caston, and myself will be shaving our heads to raise money for childhood cancer research, and Laci will be donating a foot of hair to Wigs for Kids. The people at Natty Greene's have allowed us to be on stage, all together, when we make our stand in solidarity with these child warriors that have endured more than any human being ever should in a lifetime.
Childhood cancer is different than adult cancer, and the research is grossly underfunded. 1 in 5 kids don't make it, and every 2 seconds around our globe, a child gets diagnosed. Those statistics are nothing short of what parental nightmares are made of. So we, as a family, decided to do something about it by raising money for cures. Cancer doesn't care who you are, where you're from, what your life goals are, or if you have all kinds of plans. Cancer is rude and invasive and knocks on whatever door it pleases.
It's time to stand up and give childhood cancer the bird. Stand with us. I think we can all agree that cancer absolutely sucks. But childhood cancer? As a parent, that's the most terrifying thing I can imagine. We're not waiting for it to hit close to home to help raise money. We've seen it in action, and it's absolutely devastating to witness. We need cures, and we need them yesterday. Stand with us. Stand up for these kids. Be a hero. Please. Sling a dollar or two, because every last cent counts. Every bit of it makes a difference in the lives of the thousands of infants, children, teens, and young adults fighting childhood cancers. Hair grows back. Children do not.
