Commissioner Pugliese’s goal is to raise $5,000 by June 23 in anticipation of the third annual Grand Junction St. Baldrick’s head-shaving event taking place on Saturday, June 28 in Grand Junction, Colo. The St. Baldrick’s Foundation is a volunteer-driven and donor-centered charity dedicated to raising money for childhood cancer research through head-shaving events and other unique fundraisers.
Pugliese’s hair is currently 12-inches and growing every week. For each $1,000 raised, she will cut off 3 inches. When she reaches the $5,000 raised for the Foundation, she will shave her head bald in solidarity with the kids who typically lose their hair during treatment.
Commissioners will kick off the 3rd annual Grand Junction head-shaving event by reading a proclamation at public hearing on June 23, declaring the week of June 23 as “St. Baldrick’s Foundation Week in Mesa County,” and after conclusion of public hearing, Commissioner Pugliese will shave her head bald. Pugliese’s advance cut is a challenge, and a hope that her dedication to this research will spur others to get involved and attend the Grand Junction event.
Pugliese’s fundraising will begin June 2 and go through the morning of June 23. All donations will go toward the Grand Junction event’s total funds raised.
