I'm shaving my head to raise money for childhood cancer research!
My wife, Heather Miller works with some of the most amazing people at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta. They help care for and support kids who have all types of cancers and blood disorders. She told me about St. Baldrick's which has been raising money for childhood cancer research for 17 years and over the years has been able to fund grants totaling over $232 million! We decided that we both wanted to be a part of it. So on March 16, 2018 we will both be "Shavees".
A little bit of background information to highlight the overwhelming need for funding dedicated to children with cancer.
Did you know that kids' cancers are different from adult cancers? It's true. And childhood cancer research is extremely underfunded. So I decided to do something about it by raising money for cures. Unlike many other cancer fundraisers, the money raised by St. Baldrick's goes directly to fund the research of childhood cancer cures. Only 4% of federal funding is solely dedicated to childhood cancer research.
To give this issue a little perspective, consider these numbers: Average age at cancer diagnosis for adults - 67 Average age at cancer diagnosis for kids - 6 Average years of life lost from cancer adults - 15 Average years of life lost from cancer kids - 71
Now I need your help! Will you make a donation? Every dollar makes a difference for the thousands of infants, children, teens, and young adults fighting childhood cancers.
