Once again, I am growing my hair out and looking "shaggy" in preparation for my ninth year supporting St. Baldrick's. And while I cannot wait to get my head shaved again, I really hope we can raise a lot of money to support this wonderful cause and all of these awesome kids!
Nine years ago, early in my residency, I met an amazing young girl named Ella. I remember when her family was given a diagnosis of cancer, and how Ella just wanted to go back and do more gymnastics! Little did I know how much I would grow to love that little girl and her family. She always had a smile on her face, whether she was in the hospital, getting a bone marrow transplant, swimming or shaving people's heads (inlcuding mine twice!). Heaven has been a much better place since she got there almost seven years ago, but I still think of her often (especially when I look at my seven year old daughter, who we named Ella).
Please support me with a donation to the St. Baldrick's Foundation. This volunteer-driven charity funds more in childhood cancer research grants than any organization except the U. S. government. Your gift will give hope to infants, children, teens and young adults fighting childhood cancers. So when I ask for your support, I'm really asking you to support these kids. Thank you!
