I helped to raise money for childhood cancer research with: The Chunkettes Hogs

In 2003, I pledged to shave my head as a show of solidarity for a friend who was diagnosed with breast cancer. She learned about St. Baldrick's and said if I was going to do something so crazy I should do it for a cause. So, I shaved my head in support of research to cure children's cancer and my friend Annette, a big kid at heart. I shaved again in 2005 to support another friend, Patricia, and again in 2008 when both of these dear women were back in treatment. I learned that year that my cousin's young daughter was fighting cancer as well...more reason, however unwanted, to continue to support the cause. We suffered the heart-breaking loss of my friend Annette recently and I'm back to shave my head this year to honor her memory and continue to support the cause she directed me to so I could channel my craziness in a good way. In addition to losing my hair, I have volunteered for St. Baldrick's every year since 2003 because I truly believe in the good work being done in the effort to treat and cure children, the most innocent victims of this beast called cancer.
