I have always wanted to participate in St. Baldrick's. Last year, I had a health scare where I was tested for lymphoma. I was lucky enough to have a "close call," but I know so many people do not get this relief. No one should ever have to face the fear and anxiety a diagnosis causes, especially not a child. Therefore, I'm shaving my head with St. Baldrick's to raise money and help conquer kids' cancers! Every 2 minutes a child is diagnosed with cancer worldwide, and 1 in 5 of those in the U.S. will not survive. I refuse to accept this reality, so I’ve decided to fundraise for lifesaving research to find cures and better treatments for kids.
As a female high school teacher, I also want to provide an example to my students that appearance is not the most important thing in the world. I want to emphasize that it is okay to look different from those around you, especially for a cause that is bigger than any one individual person.
Now I need your support! Your donation can fund research to help kids survive and thrive. Join me today and let’s #DFYchildhoodCancers together.
