As many of you may know, this organization is near and dear to my heart. As I sit here and write this message, tears roll down my face thinking about how much this organization has helped me out. My son, Josh (in photo), who is now 22 years old is a cancer SURVIVOR. Without the research that St. Baldrick's has funded throughout the years ($238m), I'm not sure we would have the fortune to have Josh in our lives today. Josh is a happy ending, but there are still way too many unhappy endings. We need to continue to do research and to do that, we need to raise money. My famous quote is, "This is a fun way to raise money to fight a terrible disease."
I'm shaving my head this year for the first time and I cannot tell you how excited I am to finally be able to do it. Kind of a long story, but Jack, my youngest son, would not let me do it until this year because he lost a very special person to cancer and wanted me to do it in her honor. It was his math teacher, Mary Henry. She was one of his biggest cheerleaders. I'm also doing it to honor all of the people who have shaved their heads for the cause. I have seen hundreds of people get shaved and this is my way to say thank you to all of them. I'm also doing it to honor the many people who helped us in so many other ways. Lastly, I'm doing it to honor all of those kids who haven't been as fortunate as Josh and all of those kids who are still battling, like my new friend, Jaxson. He doesn't know me, but he's in my thoughts & prayers everyday. We still have a long way to go.
Thank you, again, to all of you who have supported us through the years. Words cannot describe how much I appreciate it.
