I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research

I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research

WHAT? Every year, Finnegan's Wake hosts a St. Baldrick's event here in Winston-Salem where volunteers shave participants' heads right in the middle of Trade Street. There's music, food, and drink, and a lot of hair ends up on the ground.

WHY? I'm shaving my head to stand in solidarity with kids fighting cancer, and to raise money for further research toward a cure. You can donate from now until the day of the event, and 100% of those donations go to St. Baldrick's Foundation, which funds more childhood cancer research grants than any organization except the U.S. government. Plus, I'll be donating the hair itself to Pantene's Beautiful Lengths program, which provides free real-hair wigs to women with cancer (more info: http://www.pantene.com/en-US/PanteneBeautifulLengths/Pages/default.aspx).

WHEN? September 28th! If you live nearby, put that day on your calendar and come out to cheer me on. The festivities start at 2:00 pm at Finnegan's Wake on Trade Street and I get shaved at 4:00 pm. I'm excited about supporting such a worthy cause, but part of me is really nervous and sad to see my long locks go — I know I'll be able to use all the support I can get that day.

I've set an ambitious fundraising goal of $10,000 (did I mention I have a lot of hair?) but no amount is too small to give! Click "Make a donation" to give online, or donate by phone or mail.

Thank you SO much!
