Event Details

First, the not-personal: Participants in a St. Baldrick's event shave their heads in exchange for donations towards research. Efforts fund research & bald heads are a display of solidarity with kids who have cancer. St. Baldrick's funds more childhood cancer research grants than any organization except the U.S. Government. And now, the personal: my 5 year old daughter is a two-time cancer survivor. She was diagnosed with Wilms' tumor, on both kidneys, when she was 7 months old. She had surgery and chemotherapy and got all better. Then right before she turned 3, it was back. She went through surgery again, plus radiation and high-powered chemo. She's now 20 months off treatment and her scans all say "NED" -- No Evidence of Disease. The way I see it, she might be here today because someone a few years ago was willing to shave their head to raise the funds that led to her regimens. So I'm not just the event organizer, I'm also shaving my head! Thank you for your participation and donations!
